Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I love hiking in the Lake District with my family and go out as often as I can.  About 3 years ago I met the Lake District Mountain Rescue Search Dogs when they were fund raising in my Town.  I met some of the dogs and handlers and fell in love with these dogs straight away. I was really suprised when I spoke to people about them and they had never heard of them.  Many people in Britain know little of the work of SARDA, and may never have heard of search dogs. Yet winter and summer, search dogs and their handlers work in wild areas of Britain, searching for lost or injured people, working as part of Search and Rescue Groups.

Last Year my Aunt was diagnosed with Cancer and I wanted to raise money for the local Hospice,  I decided at 9yrs old to Climb Coniston Old Man and thought what a great idea to ask the Search Dogs to come with me and show me the way.  I decided that the money raised would be split between  two Charities, St Mary's Hospice and The Lake District Search and Rescue Dog Team.

This year I would like to raise funds again for The  Lake District Mountain Rescue Search Dogs.

Last year I managed to raise £1485, Please help me raise £2000  this year for these fantastic Dogs and their Handlers who help so many people not only in the Lake District but all over the country.

About the charity

We train and use mountain rescue search dogs to search for and rescue missing persons, predominantly in a mountainous environment, but also in other areas where our skills may be of benefit. All Lake District mountain rescue search dog handlers are also members of a mountain rescue team.
