Story
In November 2024 I’m trekking across challenging landscapes in Iceland summiting several peaks and one volcano to raise money for a cause that is close to my heart.
Having seen first hand what life-limiting illnesses can do to patients, family and friends, it is important that institutions like the East Cheshire Hospice are supported wherever possible.
The more I work with ECH, the more I learn about the work they do and the more I want to help them. It always hits home when I hear that only 17% of the funding comes from the government. Everything else is donated by the communities it serves.
It costs £7,500 per day to run the hospice, my target of £3,300 might just about keep the lights on until lunch time!
Please help me to continue to support our community!
About the Trek
We will spend three long days days in November 2024 trekking across the other-worldly landscapes of Iceland. We will be hiking to Iceland’s youngest volcano, Gelgingaldir and neighbouring Fagradaslsfjall before exploring the ethereal peaks of the Mount Hengill heritage site – scaling the impressive Vörðuskeggi Peak with spectacular views over Lake Þingvellir, Eyjafjallajökull and the distant Westman Islands. Our adventures will also see us trek along the fault lines between Europe and America.
My training
In order to prepare for the adventure I plan on matching (if not exceeding) the treks distance (hiking/running) per month in the lead up to it. Keep an eye on Strava for updates on how that is going.
