Story
Around 50 million people around the world have what was once called the ‘falling down disease’ and is now commonly referred to as Epilepsy. Among those past and present include Julius Caesar, Napoleon Bonaparte, George Gershwin, Dostoyevsky, Ian Curtis, and none other than Socrates himself.
There is still no cure for Epilepsy while relatively little is known about the condition. Those that are fortunate, like myself, take medication which suppresses and controls potential absences, seizures and attacks. Those less fortunate can suffer major attacks on a daily basis, while there are instances in which individuals have suffered one-off episodes resulting in tragic fatalities.
I have therefore decided to raise money for Epilepsy Action. Rest assured, this is not just money in my pocket! All donations will go to the organisation which provides funding for research as well as providing a network of support for some of the 450,000 people in the with the condition.
