In November 2012 I rescued a 1970 Triumph Stag, first registered in August 1970. The car was fit for the scrapheap - so much rust it threatened to break in half. Restoration by three local specialists, Devon Classic Cars, Peter Tunley Motor Carriage Trimming and A.M Restorations, started in early 2013.
In April 2013 my own restoration started when I was diagnosed as suffering from lung cancer. Thanks to first class treatment by NHS doctors and nurses at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth my condition has been stabilised.
Work on the Triumph Stag is finished and the car has completed a 2500 mile challenge - a drive from my Devon home to Lands End, then to John O'Groats and back home again visiting friends and relations on the way. We started on 16 June. My son Henry was my trusty companion, navigator, film-maker and co-driver.
