Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm running the Great West Run in memory of my brother in law, Steve Wheldon. Steve died four years ago at the age of 31, due to a Thrombosis.
I'm raising money for the charity Lifeblood, who aim "to increase awareness of thrombosis among the public and health professionals...". When I found the charity their aims struck a real cord with me due to the circumstances leading up to Steve's death.
Steve noticed that a lump had developed on his leg which obviously concerned him. He went to his GP, and then to A&E twice but was sent away on all three occasions feeling like he was a timewaster. The lump was casued by a blood clot, which one morning shifted to his lungs and killed him. If Steve had been diagnosed and treated correctly, he would almost certainly not have died.
The lifeblood website recognises that thrombosis is a major cause of death in the UK, although few people are aware of this, even in the medical profession. I'd really appreciate any money that you can spare to support the charity. Also, if you've got time, have a look at the lifeblood website! www.thrombosis-charity.org.uk
Thank you.
