WHAT AM I DOING?
I am going to WALK 26 MILES on Sunday 18th October 2015.
Having completed the Rock and Rowel in North Yorkshire last summer I have decided my next challenge should be a bit closer to home.
The Spires and Steeples Challenge starts at Lincoln Cathedral (top of the hill!) and heads out of the city before passing through many villages and the rolling countryside before finishing at St Denys church in Sleaford. This event is now in its 8th year.
WHY AM I DOING THIS??
During 2010, I signed up for a charitable scheme called "KEEP IT UP".
"KEEP IT UP" is a campaign representing the affiliation between the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Charity and Huddersfield Town Football Club.
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance is an independent charity that requires £7,200 per day in order to keep both of Yorkshire's air ambulances maintained and in the air.
The generous donations YAA receive ensure that they can provide a state of the art lifesaving service that has saved so many lives across Yorkshire.
As a charity the YAA plays a vital role in a 999 situation, alongside the other emergency services.
Yorkshire has a vast and beautiful landscape that not only includes isolated and rural locations but also major motorways and populated cities.
Whenever a patient is carried by the YAA they will only be approximately ten minutes from the nearest hospital and approximately fifteen minutes from the most appropriate hospital to treat their specific injury. Receiving specialist treatment so soon after injury is proven to save lives.

Huddersfield Town (HTFC) and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA) are working together in partnership and have created a unique and innovative way to raise funds for the charity and the Club's Academy.
For every £1 raised for the "Keep It Up" campaign, 50p goes to the YAA and the other 50p goes to the Club's Academy.
Four years ago I completed a 1,000 mile cycling challenge, followed by a walk over the Pennines in early 2012, and then The Seabank Marathon in 2013 followed by the Rock & Rowel in 2014, now this is my event for 2015...
