I have been given this exciting opportunity through my work with Youth Moves for me and a young person from Knowle West in Bristol to go and do some amazing work in Botswana alongside the Bristol City Community Trust team. In July 2014 we will be visiting a developing area of Gaborone in Botswana to spend 10 days volunteering with several community projects.

The trip will provide me with an opportunity to use the inspirational power of sport and youth work to improve people’s lives. At home the trip will support the work Youth Moves does with young people in South Bristol, as well as the Bristol City Community Trust, which serves the greater Bristol area.  

Whilst in Botswana we will be volunteering in classrooms supporting teachers to teach maths, English and science to children aged 4-18. Working in the community on projects such as HIV/AIDS awareness programmes and visiting children unable to attend school. We will also be running multi sports sessions for young people and adults during the 10 day stay. 

By making a donation you will allow us to take part in this life changing trip. We also hope to build lasting links with the projects in Botswana and to give the chance for more young people from Knowle West to get the same opportunity in future years. Lastly the experiences I gain will hopefully open my eyes to a whole new way of working and have a direct impact on the work I do with Youth Moves and young people here, back in Bristol.
