Story
In July 2013 I cycled...Four days, three hundred miles and two capital cities in aid of Sense, a national charity that supports and campaigns for children and adults who are deafblind. (Charity no. 289868)
In July 2012 I volunteered on one of the many holidays run by Sense
-25 summer holidays for over 120 deafblind children and adults anually!
I volunteered at Butlins Skegness where teenage holidaymakers got to experience everything from go-carting and archery to late night shows and relaxing in the jacuzzi. The holiday allowed deafblind teenagers the chance to get away from it all, taste new experiences and have lots of fun.
Sense also provides day services and resource centres, housing and support and gives families a much-needed break from the often-demanding work of supporting a deafblind person. I experienced first hand the extent to which families appreciate the services provided by the excellent charity.
