I moved to Penarth in South Wales around 18 months ago and although my wife grew up in the area I didn't really know anyone. Luckily for me the local tennis club and local running club provided me with an opportunity to continue two of my passions, tennis and running. The tennis club in particular was where I ended up spending a lot of time, both on the court and in the tennis bar after a match/hit. Through this, I quickly found myself at home in Wales. 

So when the tennis club announced that its annual charity in 2022 was going to be Velindre and that they would be hosting a number of events to raise money in memory of former members that had lost their battles with cancer, I thought about ways in which I could support their efforts. 

And this is when I came up with the idea of combining my two passions into a single event - running whilst playing tennis. And luckily for me, this was a concept that had been already tried over various distances through Guinness World Records, but never over the half marathon distance. So, having applied in April, on 14th September 2022 - my application has been approved.

Therefore on 2nd October 2022 I will be attempting a World Record attempt for running a half marathon whilst controlling a tennis ball (controlling means continuously bouncing the ball). My goal is to complete it in under 2 hours. I need to finish in under 2 hours 30 minutes for it be classified as a new world record.
