Story
Right, as many of you might know I will be heading off to distant places with VSO sometime in the new year to teach. Not really much of a go out and run a half marathon for a charity' kind of person so decided that walking up hills was more up my street.
Next weekend 3 men, 2 support team members, 1 campervan and an 8 week old Jack Russell called Gertie are going to complete the three peaks in 24 hours! Yeah, whoop, etc!
Now I have not been taking this undertaking lightly at all! I have been going to the gym and last night even chose a side salad over chips so hopefully this shows you that it’s not just some jolly in the countryside but will quite hardcore. I have just read a book that advises you that to do it in 24 hours you may have to do a bit of jogging up and down the hills to make the time (this was not greeted with the enthusiasm I had hoped).
Hopefully we will be able to keep you update on our travels with messages and pictures, (although all three Heales on the trip have misplaced phones recently so will be without clever phones) so if that’s not possible will update loads of pictures and goodies after.
I realise that the new 'in' thing is to go do things for charity and you are probably a bit sick of just giving pages but think of it like this. If you were planning on buying me a leaving drink or two, don't do that and sponsor me the money instead! (Although leaving drinks will be still welcome as I am jobless at the moment!)
Anyway VSO is a brilliant charity and it costs them huge amounts of money to place me in a far-away land and it gives you a chance to come visit me in Africa so please donate!
Love James xxx
