Story
In 2017 we tragically lost Carl George to vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. At that stage he was a pupil in year 11, with a great love of rowing and Navy CCF. His death was a profound shock to the House and wider school community, and since then we have sought to raise money in his memory to support others dealing with this rare and complex life-limiting disease.
Our partners in this endeavour are Annabelle's Challenge. Annabelle's Challenge is the leading charity for vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome in the UK. At the heart of the charity is Annabelle, a brave little girl from Bury who is the inspiration behind our challenge to raise awareness and support for patients and families affected by vascular EDS. Vascular EDS is a life threatening connective tissue disorder that affects all tissues, arteries and internal organs making them extremely fragile. Patients are at risk of sudden arterial or organ rupture.
School House and The Leys have maintained strong links with the charity. Our fundraising efforts slowed during the pandemic, and now the Lower 6th are coming together in order to raise as much money as possible for this important cause.
All of the Lower 6th, Michael, Mr Fawcett and Mr Layton will be running the ‘Boundary Run’, a multi-terrain half-marathon around Cambridge’s ancient boundary.
