Story
Six years ago the man in the profile picture was diagnosed with Alzheimers. His name is Rob.
This year Rob will be 77. He is husband to Bonnie and father to myself and Jenny. He is grandfather to Jenny's beautiful daughter Selina. He has a sister, Janet, and like many of us, extended family, cousins and nephews. He's mad about cars. He loves to laugh. Over the years he has travelled around the world with his business. He's made many friends.
We joked with him for years about his absent mindedness. Latterly we were frustrated by his forgetfulness. Then worried. Then scared. No joking now. There are many terrible diseases. Alzheimers is one of the fiercest and sadly touches so many people.
Seeing a clever, practical, driven, creative and charismatic man slowly being robbed of his soul is cruel.
Witnessing an adult brain "shutting down" and reverting to childhood functionality, dependence and behaviour is heart breaking.
But knowing Rob, he would be telling me "Now come on, pull yourself together lad!"
So I've decided to take action! I'm auctioning off my recently restored Spy Van and donating all the proceeds to Alzheimers Society.
As Director of Commercial Vehicles at Manheim this could be my biggest marketing project to date!! Prior to the auction day itself, Manheim's team members and clients will be involved in a week of events at our CV auction centres to add to this charity pot. I've set a target of £5000.

Between now and the 22nd May (when we'll auction the van without reserve at Manheim Shepshed) please give what you can in order to help research in this area.
We can make a difference - for ourselves, family, friends and colleagues - we'll directly and indirectly benefit in the coming years from funds we raise for research.
So thank you for sharing in this part of my life and, from the bottom of my heart, thank you in advance for your support.
