Story
As many of you know I work for Diageo’s Africa business which operates right across this dynamic and diverse continent. While Africa is going through an economic renaissance, many significant challenges remain, and none more so than access to clean water. It is estimated that 300 million Africans do not have direct access to drinking water and decent sanitation and that in just over 10 years time half of the population will be living in water stressed areas.
A Diageo initiative in response to the UN’s call to action, Water of Life was set up in 2006 with the aim to provide access to clean drinking water for 1 million every year. Up to now nearly 5 million people have benefitted and continuing to do so. In conjunction with the charity WaterAid, the Water of Life Half Marathon was created to raise funds for this very worthwhile project. This year proceeds will be directed to projects in Mozambique.
My boss is running this and my wife is running this. Nothing would incentivise me more to beat both of them than money in the donation pot. I would be very grateful if you could help the cause at www.justgiving.com/James-Crampton. If you’re a UK resident don’t forget to tick the box so that Cameron and his merry band can chip in too.
Many thanks
James
