Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In the past year our family has, as many others, been affected by Cancer. In October 2008, my Mums friend - Linda Gray (who was in fact my health visitor when I was born) sadly passed away at a very young age, after battling with bowel cancer. This was a great shock to myself, to see someone I had depended on from birth, suffer and lose her life to such a terrible disease so young. In January 2009, my Papa Jackie passed away - 3 different types of cancer being the cause of death. A few weeks later, in February 2009, my Nana June was diagnosed breast cancer - luckily after a double masectomy and great care from the hospital, she has been given the all clear. One piece of good news from the year.
When a friend suggested that I should have my first attempt at a marathon, after enjoying running for fitness for some time now, I thought this was an ideal opportunity to raise some money for such a worthy cause, as there are not many families that have not been affected by cancer. So please dig deep and help me raise some money to help others who are suffering.
