Story
In August 2022, at our routine 20 week scan, we received the devastating news that our baby boy had a complex heart defect (Congenital Heart Disease). He was diagnosed with Transposition of the Great Arteries, Pulmonary Stenosis and a VSD (hole in the heart). We had to attend the Evelina multiple times up until he was born.
On the 5th December 2022, Jake arrived and was instantly whisked away and had life saving open heart surgery at just a few hours old. We have been told he was the sickest TGA baby that they had in many years. Life from there was pretty tough and he spent months in and out of the Evelina.
He has very recently in July, had another life saving open heart surgery at the Evelina, where his surgeon has performed an incredible procedure to ensure our boy can live a pretty normal life. He will need further surgeries in the years to come.
Without the Evelina, we wouldn’t have our baby boy. The care Jake received every single time he was an inpatient and also his 2 weekly appointments…was just out of this world. These guys are absolutely incredible and no amount of words could ever describe how thankful our family are for them.
I am running the London Marathon, to give back to this incredible hospital.
Any donation will be massively appreciated from the bottom of our hearts.
Every year more than 103,000 children and young people experience the wonderful warmth of Evelina London, which is part of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. They see first-hand the care and passion of the Evelina London team who are exploring new approaches and creating ground-breaking care for children and young people. To give you an idea of the impact of your donation:£10 could help put a childs mind at ease with imaginative toys, books and games that explain what happens in hospital.£100 could help the team put together amazing rucksacks full of distraction toys for every ward and department.£350 could buy even more DVD players with headphones and give every child the chance to escape into their favourite film.Thank you so much for your support!
