Story
Jake tragically passed away at the age of 48 on 31st October 2020, due to sepsis.
Jake overcame many serious health conditions during his life, all stemming from a particularly aggressive form of Marfan Syndrome known as Loeys-Dietz. Marfans and Loeys-Dietz are an inherited genetic defect affecting the body's connective tissues. Despite many miraculous recoveries, Jake's last battle against an aortic aneurysm was the hardest and he sadly developed complications and died unexpectedly.
Jake was an ardent Chelsea FC fan, godparent to his friends' children, loved travelling and worked for many years as a computer games designer. He found shielding during lockdown particularly frustrating and was looking forward to a brighter 2021.
We hope that raising money for the Marfan Trust will enable this small charity to undertake research, support the 3,000 families in the UK living with Marfans, and raise funds towards an internship at the Sonalee Laboratory at St. George's Hospital, SW17.
Please celebrate Jake's life and donate to this amazing cause in his memory.
