The original story - On 2nd October 2019, to coincide with the 150th Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's birth, walkers from India started a year-long commitment to march from Delhi to Geneva, engaging with communities and organisations along the way.
This out-of-the-ordinary walk, Jai Jagat 2020 (loosely translated One Planet All People), is a wake-up call about the deepening global, economic, social and environmental crisis. The campaign is an urgent appeal for people to transform attitudes and systems.
We are raising funds to support 50 walkers - the costs of each walker averages £15 per day - and to gather evidence on four fronts:
Eradicating Poverty
Eliminating Social Exclusion
Mitigating the Climate Crisis
Halting Conflict and Violence
The walkers will present the stories and situations they discover along the route to the UN in September 2020 at People's Forums in Geneva. They will hold the UN to account for underachieving on its Sustainable Development Goals.
For more information on the progress of the walkers please see www.jaijagat2020.org.
