Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In July I will volunteer for 12 weeks on a development programme in Ghana. This is part of International Citizen Service (ICS), which brings young people together to fight poverty and make a difference where it is needed most. I’ll be working alongside volunteers from Ghana, on a human rights based project that focuses on the most disadvantaged members of their society - families that can't send their children to school, women and people with disabilities. This will be achieved through one of 4 main projects in education/literacy, campaigning, sustainability and livelihoods.
ICS works with communities that have specifically requested their help, and so if ICS were to end overnight, the idea is that the projects we put in place would continue, led by locals.
It also aims to inspire young people in the UK and overseas to become active citizens who are passionate about long term community development - something I consider highly important having previously volunteered alongside communities living in poverty.
I need to raise £800 for International Service who are one of the respected development charities that deliver ICS. This will allow them to continue to bring about positive change in the developing communities where they work. You can check out their amazing work here
