We stand for everyone affected by dementia to find a cure

Story

In the UK, dementia is the only condition in the top 10 causes of death without a treatment to prevent, cure or slow its progression.

I have been lucky enough to secure a place to run the London Marathon and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to raise money for a cause close to my heart. Both of my grandparents have and are suffering variants of Alzheimer’s and I know personally the vital importance of researching early diagnosis.

There could be nearly half a million fewer people living with dementia in 8 years if we could delay the onset by just five years.

There are over 700,000 informal carers for people diagnosed with dementia in the UK. My parents being just two of those, and I can see first hand the impact this has on not only those diagnosed but those closest to them.

In my professional life working in Private Client dealing with Wills and LPAs I frequently witness this impact to. This condition can make the simplest tasks much more complicated.

I have therefore decided to use my ballot place for the London Marathon to raise money toward  supporting those suffering with a variant of Alzheimer’s, their careers and health workers and research into prevention and treatment.

I would be extremely grateful for any support as I take on this mammoth task and will update you along the way!

Thank you!
