Story
Thanks for stopping by! So, I'm about to do the un-imaginable and trek for 2 days with a 10kg pack and no bathroom. Why? Well, like Michael Jackson, I'd like to heal the world. And this seemed like a good way to start.
I'm raising funds for Global Vision International (GVI) - who my friend Matthew Sherman is passionately involved with. GVI manages and fundraises for numerous long-term programs which aim to alleviate poverty, illiteracy, environmental degradation and climate change through: education; nutrition; conservation, income generation and capacity building. Here's what GVI are doing in Honduras...
In 2005, GVI Phoenix started working in a small school in San Rafael, Honduras, in the mountains surrounding Copán. Recently, they have expanded into Barbasco as well, providing extra teachers, food and fruit for the children, who share classrooms and teachers across all grades. In 2008, they started their own secondary school in San Rafael, paying for teachers to give secondary education, which was impossible before. Now they have 100 children enrolled, from five different communities.
What your donations can provide:
15 AUD (GBP10) buys the necessary educational utensils for one child per year
40 AUD (or GBP25) buys food and fruit for 10 children for one month
525 AUD (GBP350) pays for the salary of one local secondary teacher per month
Without this project, the children would simply not receive secondary education. By donating just a small amount, the project will receive funding to allow the school to have teachers who can provide official certificates for the children, which goes a long way to achieving our sustainable goals. We can also ensure the children receive a healthy meal each day. The children are the future and secondary education gives them a shot at this future.
So, if this sounds like a worthwhile cause to you, please look into your heart and bank account and give... even a little. As this is not an Australian charity, you have to donate Pounds, so check out a currency converter to figure out how much you'd like to give:

Thank you, wish me luck!
