Story
Hello and thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.
So… I’m about to embark on the next part of my fitness journey! Most of you know training has become a massive part of my life the last few years particularly. I have made it a priority in my life in order to keep on top of my mental health first and foremost but also to be the best version of my self that I can be for my children. Having a healthy mind, & being strong is the ultimate goal.
I ran my first Hyrox race in January 2022 in Manchester in a women’s doubles competition with my friend Sarah. I had no idea what I was letting myself in for, I had never competed before and did ask myself at one point who are you Jade?! At 35 years old, a mother of 2 children what was I thinking?! We completed it in 1 hour and 23 minutes and I loved every second, the atmosphere, the buzz, the support was unreal. I spent about a week after this a broke woman, but we booked again! We competed in London in April 22 and as a double we took part in 4 races across the course of a year and one mixed relay.
The next challenge for me is to go solo so I will be racing this time in the women’s open category on my own! This will be a lot different to racing with a partner, mainly because there is know one to share the exercises with so it’s double the work. Mentally this is going to be tough.
When I decided I wanted to do this I also decided to wanted to do it for charity. I’m lucky enough to have not lost many people close to me in my life time but in April 2020 I lost a dear friend of mine Kim. Kim is one of my closest friends Mum. She battled cancer for a number of years and I saw her in the salon very regularly throughout her fight with the illness over the course of a number of years. The strength and reliance that Kim showed throughout this time will inspire me for life. Our health is not a given, and should never be taken from granted. Whilst I am fit and well enough to do these sort of events I want to raise as much money as I can for the charity that helped Kim and help so many others. Macmillan gives people with cancer everything they’ve got. If you’re diagnosed, your worries are Macmillan’s worries. Macmillan’s doing whatever it takes. But without your help, Macmillan can’t support everyone who needs them.
