Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia (HSP) is a very rare neurological condition affecting approximately 1 in 10,000 individuals.  It is a progressive disease, early symptoms are typically the occasional stumble, trip or fall but in later years wheelchairs and other mobility aids may be required.

As many of my friends are aware, HSP is in my family and my dad is affected. Some of you will know him and have seen his mobility deteriorate over recent years.  Through the HSP charity (my dad is chairman) I have met many other people with this condition, some of whom are a similar age to myself.

This is a huge personal challenge for me as I'm definitely not a natural athlete but I'm keen to make a big difference to affected individuals.

Funds raised are used to help individuals purchase mobility aids or indeed anything that may improve their quality of life. I'm hoping with the agreement of the charity that I may be able to fund a mobility aid for an individual.
