Story
As stated by The Eve Appeal, every day 58 women in the UK are diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer and 21 die. That's far too many wives, daughters, sisters, partners and friends. We have chosen to support this charity as it was Jane’s wish to raise awareness of endometrial cancer. The Eve Appeal is raising money to fund research into the five gynaecological cancers.
Jane's wish: 'Last Autumn I received a reminder to have a smear test from my GP. I went to my Doctor and told her this had made me aware I was bleeding three weeks out of every four. Even though I was still menopausal this bleeding was unusual. I had an ultrasound and biopsy on the 19th of December 2017 which showed the lining of the womb was thick and the biopsy identified indolent and precancerous cells. I was told this was Endometrial cancer. Despite being one of the gynaecological cancers, the second most common cancers in Women, I had never heard of it.
I would like everyone to take notice and be aware that there is nothing normal about the menopause. We are all different and I have always has erratic periods and different levels of bleeding. So please watch your body and take care of each other and yourself.'
