Story
Guinness World Record Attempt.
28 in 28 plus 60 half marathons in 60 days🏃♀️ 🌨 ⛄️
In January 2011, I was diagnosed with a large Brain Tumour on my cerebellum and spinal cord, which had to be operated on immediately, times where hard but the support both me and my family received from Macmillan Cancer Support was invaluable, providing physical and mostly mental support.
So in 2014, I ran 1 marathon a month for a year, and the following year I ran one half Marathon a month within the year (all authorised and accredited races) Thank you to all who supported and sponsored me, all the funds raised where donated to related charities, Cancer Research, Brain Tumour Charity, Macmillan ect.
In January 2020, I applied to attempt a Guinness World Record, after a 5 month wait my request was supported, so we made plans to start in Aug, however COVID-19 had other plans, thus we postponed our attempt.
For the record all we need to do is run the most consecutive amount of half marathon’s within a month 31 in 31 days to achieve both the female and male record. I will also be aiming to achieve the most consecutive half marathon’s 60 in 60 days, which means a half marathon everyday throughout January and February 2021!
The plan was to start in Jan 21 with my colleague Rocco Zecca, however once again COVID 19 had other plans, he received a positive COVID-19 result on 1 January 2021; thus he will be joining me on 1 February 21, to start the male, monthly Guinness World Record. We work full time, so during the week we will complete our daily challenge every morning before and sometimes after work.
We are aiming to raise funds to support two charities Macmillan Cancer and a local school, with a goal of anywhere between £1000 and £5000 for each charity:
Macmillan Cancer Support, is vital for cancer patients at a time where the NHS is stretched. Macmillan, provide support to people living with cancer during the coronavirus pandemic. Most Macmillan nurses are employed by the NHS and their posts are funded by Macmillan for a set time, often for the first three years. After that time, the long-term funding is taken up by the NHS or other partner organisations although the nurse continues to be called a Macmillan Nurse.
Macmillan are there to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, providing physical, financial and emotional support. understanding that cancer and cancer treatment can throw a lot your way.... Life with cancer is still life, and Macmillan will help people live it, but they can't do it without your support.
Any support is welcome, times are tough but if you have a spare penny or pound, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again in advance.
