I have decided to take up the amazing challenge to trek a 100km (62 mile) stretch of the Great Wall of China on 7th October 2011, in aid of the Alzheimer's Society. 

The Great Wall of China has to be one of the top 20 journeys of a lifetime and I've already started training hard for the 100km trek.  This will be the first time I have visited China or done anything quite as adventurous as this, so I am really excited about it all. :)

Day 1: Depart London for Beijing

Day 2: Arrive at Beijing

Day 3: Beijing - Huangyaguan, Trekking time  2-3 hours

Day 4: Huangyaguan - Mountain Village,Trekking time 7 hours

Day 5: Village - Jinshanlin, Trekking time 4-5 hours

Day 6: Jinshanlin - Gubeiko - Jinshanlin, Trekking time 7-8 hours

Day 7: Jinshanlin - Simatei, Trekking time 6 hours

Day 8: Simatei - Mutianyu, Trekking time 4-5 hours

Day 9: Mutianyu - Beijing, Celebration meal to mark our achievement

Day 10: Beijing - London and then Home!
