Story
At the start of this year Pat Fox, someone I have known all my life, lost his battle with cancer. He and his family have always been close with mine, thanks to him and my dad growing up together with a great close friendship that started from senior school. We have such a close bond that it really feels like we are one big family. Which is why it was such a hard thing to hear the news of Pats cancer for everyone. Still to this day, I can't believe he's actually gone. But nevertheless, he left us with an endless amount of happy memories that we will simply never forget.
It really was nice to hear of the help and support that the Macmillan Cancer Support charity gave to Pat and his family in the short period of time that he had. It made me think, if charities like Macmillan didn't exist people wouldn't be getting this great support and care when they need it most.
So after hearing that the Macmillan Cancer Support charity was the main sponsor for the Ride24 London to Newcastle event i didn't hesitate to sign up for a second go. This time I'll be going with the front peloton, and hoping to finish in around 22 hours. More importantly, I'm aiming for £500 to raise for the charity but I'm hoping I manage to achieve much more!
It was terrible to see such a great man like Pat taken so early, and to see how much it effected his family. This is why we need charities like Macmillan, to continue to help families facing cancer. So please, donate what you can. No matter how small, every penny counts.
Thank you,
Jake.
