Story
October 14th 2000 was the day our lives changed forever. We lost our dad, our role model and our glue to our family.
I had just turned 11 the day before and not long started year 6 in primary school.
It was my 11th birthday party with 4 friends at “splash down” and after we went to Pizza Hut….my mum received that dreaded phone call. I remember it so well, she told the waitress who was serving our table that she needed some help, her husband had died, she needed to tell her daughter (me) and also needed some help to phone parents of the friends who was attending the birthday party to come and collect them as she wasn’t in a position to drive home. We all got taken to the office of Pizza Hut whilst we waited for other parents to arrive and someone to pick up me and my mum
We talked about the future under the stars, she spoke about places her and my dad had talked about taking us all and now that life was ‘to short’ she would make those dreams come true. Their dreams now was a reality of a widowed mum in her 40s, 3 children, a dog and a business, something which now I can only imagine as a sad nightmare/emotional rollercoaster.
My dad died playing one of the sports he loved, golf. He was teeing off on hole 18 at Cheddington golf course with his friend, a friend who had tried to resuscitate him before help arrived.
Once help had arrived he was taken to Yeovil hospital, sadly he had died at the golf course, the nurse said “it was a ticking time bomb, his time was up.”
He had a heart attack of which there was no coming back. Again, October 14th 2001 the day our lives changed forever.
He’s missed:
❤️Numerous sporting events, he would of been my No.1 fan
❤️Collecting my GCSE and college results
❤️ Picking me up drunk most weekends
❤️ Graduating at university
❤️Christmases, birthdays and anniversaries
❤️ That first look at me in a wedding dress and walking my down the aisle
❤️Holding my girls for the first time
❤️Seeing me grow my business
❤️ and much much more…..
Today I received an email after 12 years of trying to run the London marathon IM IN!!!! April 2023 LETS DO THIS! 💪
Im running for British Heart Foundation, a charity my dad supported when he was alive, a charity of which we have raised thousands for in memory of my dad and a charity which is close to our hearts (literally!).
Please if you have £1 spare this month I would appreciate anything. I promise to work my ass off, I promise to keep you updated and I promise to do my dad proud!
If you are a dad, lost a dad, want to be a dad or even just couldn’t imagine life without your dad I’d appreciate just £1.
Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation and I'd be so grateful for your support. The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!
