Story
In October 2011 my Brother was diagnosed with Stomach Cancer at the age of 31, unfortunately by November 2011 he was told there was nothing more than could be done and he had 2 weeks to live. St David's Hospice stepped in and provided and absolutely amazing service in allowing my Brother to pass away peacefully at home. The nurses were incredible as were the bereavement councillors who helped my Mum through this. My Brother unfortunately passed away 21st December 2011. From then on my Mother decided not to sit and dwell on what had happened, but take a negative and use it to create something positive. My Mum and her close friends then fundraised for St David's Hospice starting May 2012 on a fancy dress walk, they then held auctions, quiz nights, walks, you name it......They did it! My Mother unfortunately became ill herself in 2018 and was diagnosed with cancer, her and her friends still held charity events regardless. My Mother also became a patient to St David's in 2018 and I saw first hand what an amazing charity this is and privilege to have this in our community. My Mother unfortunately passed away on 3rd April 2019. Her and her friends raised £70,000 for St David's. Her friends kindly decided to continue the charity work so we now look to raise even more money for St David's! The old Just Giving Page stopped working - https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/jackie-lewis31 so this has been set up to continue the work! Thank you very much for reading.
