Story
I’m Jack, an On-Call Firefighter for North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service stationed at Knaresborough.
Being a firefighter within a rural community gives me a huge sense of pride and I’m honoured to be given the opportunity to raise awareness within my local community and wider about the vital work the Firefighters Charity does.
Running the London Marathon is a significant challenge, but it pales in comparison to the challenges that all firefighters face every day. We often hear the phrase “it’s not what we’re paid to do but what we are prepared to do”, and that’s why firefighters deserve all the support they can get. By running the marathon in aid of the firefighters charity, I can show my appreciation for the dedication and sacrifice we give every day we go to work.
My fundraising target will go a long way in supporting the Firefighters Charity and any donation and support is welcomed. However, my overall objective is to raise awareness that the charity does within the rural community.
