Story
As most of you know, I recently lost my best friend and mum, Lynn Higgins on 7th January 2016. This time last year I decided to complete the Pendle Triathlon to raise money for Cancer Research UK, little did I know only two months later my mum would be diagnosed for the second time.
The strength she showed and ability to continue to smile in the face of adversity will live with me forever and continually make me proud. However, she couldn't have done this without the love, care and attention of the Pendleside Hospice staff, who made her laugh when she felt low, sat with her for hours when she wanted to talk, cuddled her when she was upset and held her hand when she needed support.
Not only were they there for my mum, but also provided a home for my sister Katie and I, for a week so we could spend the final days with her.
There isn't a price you could put on the gratitude my family feels towards this charity. My mum was desperate to spend her final days surrounded in the warmth of the Pendleside Hospice and I will forever donate as a way of thanks.
It wouldn't be enough to take part in the Pendle Triathlon again and my mum would want to challenge me, so I'm going to Southport to double the distance of last year!!!
I've set a target of completing it in under 3 hours, which will be tough, but I'm determined to do it.
