Story

Since watching my little sister run the marathon last year, I have been inspired to take on the 26.2 miles myself to raise money for a great cause. I was lucky enough to be chosen for Countryside Alliance.

This is a great charity that aims to help children and adults alike benefit from the remedial qualities of the great outdoors. One of the arms of the charity is Casting For Recovery UK & Ireland; which is a unique fly fishing project that marries support, advice, and counselling into relaxation weekend retreats which are free of charge to lady participants and any lady who has, or has had, breast cancer.

This is a cause that is particularly close to my heart as my own Grandmother battled with breast cancer. To be able to help victims in their recovery with the aid of the charity is an honour!

Thoroughly looking forward to taking on the challenge!

About the charity

Many children and young people know little about the countryside and rural way of life. Its programme of educational initiatives will introduce them, and their teachers, to the beauty, importance and diversity of our rural heritage, inspiring them to become passionate about its future and protect it for future generations.
