Story

First off thank you for taking the time to look into this story and the thought of contributing to this cause. I am a cadet in the Air Cadet Organisation and am looking to raise money and awareness for a worthy cause.

I am currently undertaking a course within the air cadets known as the Junior Leaders Course, which is an intense, demanding and highly prestigious course spread over 9 months. The course teaches about leadership and management, by utilising military teachings and applying these methods to various situations. As part of this course each individual has been asked to organise and complete a fundraiser of their choice for an incredible charity known as the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF).

In order to meet this part of the course, I am planning to complete a 150 mile bicycle ride around the county borders of Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire, to raise funds for this fantastic charity and the work they do. I will be fulfilling this challenge on the 2nd/3rd April, starting from my local air cadet squadron and completing a full lap of both of the counties back to the start point. Any interest and donations made regarding the fundraiser or the charity will be greatly appreciated!

The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF) was established in 2008 to honour the memory of John Thornton, a young Royal Marines Officer from Ferndown who was tragically killed, at the age of 22 whilst serving in Afghanistan.

John Thornton achieved so much in his short life and therefore the provision of opportunities for local young people to achieve their ambitions and potential become a fitting legacy of which he would be immensely proud.

The JTYAF supports young people from a number of youth organisations providing them with scholarships and bursaries which give them access to opportunities to promote personal development and achievement.

JTYAF help to support a number of different youth organisations with already 19 supported organisations they have already supported and helped. Receipts of the scholarships and bursaries are selected based on their commitment to their activity and their demonstration of the organisations key values: courage, determination, unselfishness and cheerfulness in adversity.

This is an amazing organisation that helps make a difference across different youth organisations to help the youth all across the UK. JTYAF's support even help across the globe with expeditions across the globe to help people in need and help young people achieve their goals and maximise their potential. Thank you everyone for reading this and your interest. Any donations made are very much appreciated and are helping many different people achieve their ambitions.
