Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page where we are raising money for the Paediartic Intensive Care Unit (Ward 12) at the RVI.
On 1st April 2011 my son Jake, then aged 8, collapsed at home. He was rushed to hospital where it was discovered he had a bleed on the brain. This was caused by an AVM which is an abnormal tangle of arteries and veins, affecting less than 1% of the population. He was transferred to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Newcastle RVI. Whilst there he had 3 operations on his brain to save his life. The care he received while in PICU was fantastic. This is our chance to give something back. On 21st April we are going to walk from the RVI in Newcastle back to our home in Blackhill, a distance of approximately 16 miles, to raise money for this much needed unit. Any support you could give us would be very much appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read Jake's story.
