Story
Congratulations! You have made the best decision of 2015 in visiting my just giving page!
The rumours are true, the hype was justified, the media speculation founded - I have signed up to run the London marathon.
Barring any follow up press conferences, chat show interviews and book deals the fun is now over though and the hard work now begins. I'm embarking on a gruelling 17 week training programme that will physically equipt me to gracefully run from Greenwich Park to The Mall hopefully in 3 hours 30 minutes or quicker (a bold claim indeed) - alcohol is also even being given up for the most part of the 5 month lead up from now (an even bolder claim!). It's going to be physically and mentally demanding but hopefully equally rewarding and fun, and certainly worth it for such a brilliant cause.
This is where all of you lovely people come in; I need to raise £1,800 through sponsorship for the wonderful charity that is Leonard Cheshire Disabilty. Any amount of money that you can spare would be so much appreciated and will really help me smash through the wall that I'm told arises around mile 23!
I have chosen to support the charity Leonard Cheshire Disability because they are a fantastic charity who support people with all kinds of physical and learning difficulties to live the way they choose.
They do this by providing not only social care but by helping disabled people find and remain in employment, providing information, support and guidance and helping people with disabilities get into sport. Leonard Cheshire Disability also campaign alongside disabled people to bring about changes for the better, and to challenge ignorance and unfairness in society.
1 in 6 people in the UK are disabled. 8 out of 10 people with a disability weren't born with it, it could happen to any one of us.
Thank you so much for any support you can provide!
Jamie
