Story
My name is James and I’m infertile.
Well that’s close, but not 100% true, because for some inexplicable reason I’ve not been gifted with the fastest of swimmers. This has been something that has had both negative and (some may think bizarrely) very positive influences on my life. I wanted to add to the positive by doing something for a charity that supports those who have gone through similar experiences to myself.
On the week beginning 30th May I’m setting out to ride the Sarn Helen Trail. This is a mainly off-road 270 mile / 430 km bike ride spanning the length of Wales. Based loosely on a north-south “roman” road, the route commences from the north coast of Wales at Conwy, cuts through the heart of Snowdonia, traverses the Cambrian Mountains and finishes on the south coast at the tip of the Gower Peninsula at Worm’s Head. The route was put together in 1996 by Sustrans. A little more info can be found here... http://mbruk.co.uk/mbruk_SarnHelenTrail_details.htm
According to the guide book I’ll be experiencing an “Everest’s worth of climbing” over a route that will “extract every last ounce of trail expertise, endurance and endorphin-enhance enjoyment from your body. You have been warned.” Granted this was written 20 years ago and mountain biking technology has moved on, but I’m still only human and anticipate a tough time.
I’ll be riding in aid of Infertility Network UK. To quote their website
Infertility Network UK is the leading national infertility charity, supporting everyone who finds they have difficulties conceiving. Whether you need emotional support to cope with the rollercoaster of the infertility journey, or practical support to help you access NHS funding, you will find it all …
I can only emphasis that this is a very worthwhile cause and every single penny will be welcome. No donation will be too small. Maybe donate the equivalent of the
cost of a pint or chocolate bar. It will all add up.
What I ask all to do, regardless of whether you donate, is share the link to my Just Giving page. With the wonders of Social Media we can reach a lot of people and I’m hoping that with the help of just a very small fraction of the people out there I can raise a few
pounds to help support a very worthy cause
I don’t profess to be the greatest blogger but I will try to keep this updated, just in case there are a few people out there who may be
interested.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, share this and maybe even donate your hard earned money.
Best wishes,
James.
