Story
The photo was taken form last year when I supported 40 young people with learning disabilities and autism between the ages of 14 and 19 to take part in either the 7 day or 5 day residential adventure holiday on the outskirts of Bristol. For some young people this was the first time they have stayed away from home. They experienced a week away with their peers doing exciting activities like, abseiling, climbing, crate, stacking and riffle shooting. They also do team activities like assault courses and our very own It's a knock out. They are involved in all aspects of the holiday, making breakfast , cookery sessions, making lunches washing up and building a fire in the evening to toast marshmallows and drink hot chocolate around while discussing the shared experiences. The young people are supported to try new activities, face personal challenges along side making new friends and having fun.
These holiday's can only continue to happen if we can raise the funds for them.
It is an amazing experience for the young people involved and the impact for them and their families is more than I can express in the short space I have to do it here, but all I can say is everyone would say a big THANK YOU if you could support these camps to continue to happen.
So please give what you can and give more young people this amazing opportunity to have a fantastic holiday.
