Story
In November 2011, aged 49, I was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Major "Whipples Procedure" surgery was needed followed by 6 months of Chemotherapy.
My faith, my fitness and the fabulous skills of an amazing surgeon (Mr Tommy Diamond) & his team have guided me through this journey and on 13th April 2014 I aim to run a sub 4 hours London Marathon.
I've set a massive target to bring real benefit to Cancer Focus AND the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund and I'm asking for your generous support to encourage me in that quest and to make every mile of my run one which will make a measurable difference to the work of both these fabulous causes.
Cancer now impacts 1 in 3 of us, so the cause is real. My brother Mervin, aged just 44 has just gone through cancer surgery and presently awaits his Chemo treatment plan and also we lost our Dad to cancer when I was only 7 and my brother just 1, so as a consequence of both these experiences and my own more recent one, I can relate only too well to the trauma caused to children when cancer enters a home. The Cancer Focus Family Support Service is available to help these families. This assistance can be invaluable to simply help families cope with what has befallen them. Pancreatic Research needs funding to find a cure for this "challenging" cancer type.
