Story
Hello! My name is Isy and I am 12 years old. I have found lockdown pretty tough. I miss my friends. I miss my grandparents and other family and I miss my normal life. I know I'm very lucky though, as I have tons and tons of support and so many opportunities to still have fun and stay connected with everyone. One thing I've discovered these past few months is that not everyone has these things. In fact, there are many children living in London who are nowhere near as lucky as I am. It's not just that they don't have a laptop or access to the internet for home learning. They struggle for a safe place to work, for a warm bed at night, and to have enough food, not to go to bed hungry. The teachers at my school have set me some amazing and inspiring physical challenges throughout lockdown and it got me thinking that whilst I love these challenges, other children face far more difficult challenges EVERY SINGLE DAY and here's the thing...they are not optional challenges that they could take or leave, they are part of their everyday struggle and these children have no choice but to endure them. I want to do something to help them. As part of the #FitFeb challenge at school, I have decided to set myself this HUGE challenge to run 100 miles in 30 days between 7th February and 8th March 2021. That's the equivalent of 160km, which is the distance from my school to Calais! Please help me and The Childhood Trust create hope and opportunity for the less privileged children of London so that they too can enjoy some of things that I enjoy. Thank you very much! Love from Isy x
