Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page for the race I'm running in Havana on 20 November, hoping to raise money for Parkinson's UK in the process. My husband Jan van Niekerk will also be running, but a fair bit further as he is doing the half marathon, also in aid of Parkinson's UK. (What I lack in distance I shall try to make up for in enthusiasm - added speed isn't an option, alas!).

Parkinson's UK is a charity that provides both support and research to those whose lives are affected by Parkinson's, so the work they do has a benefit beyond just the UK. My mother, Ann Dixon, who died last year, had Parkinson's and several people I know and love are also facing its challenges. Parkinson's UK offers help to those recently diagnosed, those living with the condition, and to family members and carers.

If you are in the UK and need advice in these areas, Parkinson's UK has a free, confidential helpline: 0808 800 0303

If you're not able to donate, feel free to share this page if possible. If you can give, donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe, JustGiving will never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you - and think of me on 20 November.
Go well,
xxIsobel

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.
