We research cures for childhood cancers to ensure that more children survive!

Story

Hi, I’m Isla and I’m 6 years old. In March this year I got a really bad tummy ache and fevers and after lots of trips to the doctors and hospital I was diagnosed with Wilms Tumour, a type of kidney cancer. I have had 2 different chemotherapy drugs and had a big operation to remove 1 of my kidneys and the Tumour.

On the 17th June (2days before my 6th birthday) i rang the end of treatment bell which means the Cancer has gone and I don’t have to have any more of the horrible medicine which made me feel really poorly and made all my hair fall out.

All the doctors and nurses have done a great job looking after me and my family and I’m so glad they got me better and that I can go back to school.

September is Childhood Cancer awareness month so on 1st September I’m starting off our family fundraising month by walking barefoot over Lego bricks! OUCH!! it will be funny though cos I’m making the rest of my family do it with me. HA HA HA.

I really want to raise awareness and lots of money for research into children’s cancers (did you know less than 1% is given to research for children’s cancer?!) I’ve been really lucky on my cancer journey but I know others that haven’t been and others that are still fighting on. PLEASE help me every £ helps.

Thank you love Isla x
