Story
I am a mother of two handsome boys 13 and 8 years old.
In December 2020, I visited my beloved parents and my in-laws in Pakistan. I stayed at my parents home for a week with my children and my husband. I never knew that was the last time I would ever see my father alive.
In May 2021, my father took the vaccine. Within ten days of taking the vaccine, he passed away. I was devastated, shocked and completely unprepared for this. I guess no one ever is. I managed to reach Pakistan the following day, and we arranged for my mum to travel from D.I Khan to Islamabad.
I arrived that morning, but my father was already buried. I didn’t even have the time to grieve his death.
All I wanted to do was make sure my mum was ok. I met her at the hospital, but I could not even hug her or kiss her and say to her: "Mum I'm sorry for Dad passing away, but I’m here for you."
I longed to hug her and tell her how much I missed my father. But I couldn’t because I had to show her that I was strong and I was there for her.
On the 7th of June, she was put on a ventilator. She did come out of the induced coma after a few weeks. But couldn’t move or speak only move her head. With the help of physiotherapist, she started to get a little movement in her fingers. She was very weak at this stage. On 5th July all her blood tests came out negative and we were told by the doctors that she was recovering now. Unfortunately, the next morning she passed away. Exactly on the 40th day and same time as the death of my dad. I’m shattered and broken. Losing one parent is difficult as it is; I lost both of them. There are no words to explain my grief.
Now I have to live for my family and be as strong as I can. I want my parent's legacy to live on. We want to raise funds to honour their memory. So I’m reaching out to you all to help me honour my parents and provide the best charity; safe drinking water for the people of Bangladesh.
2.2 billion people don’t have access to clean drinking water. With the money raised, we want to help install 12 community-based Arsenic & Iron Removal Plants (AIRP), each serving 50 – 60 households with clean drinking water daily in Bangladesh.
Join me in honouring my parent's memory. May God reward you all for giving.
