Story
To those who know me, know I’ve never been a big runner however since I was little I’ve always gone to watch my dad run the Great North Run (10 times in total!!) and have always been inspired by all the people taking part. I always said I would love to run it with him and this year is the year.
The charity we are running for is FMA.UK.
Many people don’t know but my mum suffers with an illness called Fibromyalgia. It is not a new syndrome, but for most of the last century it was difficult to diagnose, we hadn’t even heard of it until we finally had the diagnosis. It’s an invisible illness so to the world she looks fine but in reality she’s in chronic pain. Fibromyalgia is an underfunded medical condition so very little research has been carried out to understand it's causes and symptoms.
FMA's aim is to raise awareness and help support those with the
condition. Hopefully by raising more awareness, other people in the
future won't have to suffer.
To me, my mum is the most inspirational and strong woman and all those suffering with Fibro are incredible. For more information on the charity look on FMA U.K website
