Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
On June 13th we are taking part in the 2015 Blenheim Palace Triathlon. It is for an amazing family and an amazing cause.
We are raising money to help fund a new Paediatrics Procedures Unit for the Oxford Children's hospital. The facility will benefit hundreds and hundreds of children every year and is something that the hospital are in desperate need of. This is over and above that which the NHS is able to deliver. The unit will also be named after Oscar which will be a great tribute to him.
Thinking of Oscar was set up by our friends David and Hannah Cole after their son Oscar died unexpectedly on the 19th June 2014, aged just 16 months.
Essentially it was a combination of bad luck and bad timing with Oscar contracting Rotavirus during a routine treatment in hospital which in turn lead to Encephalitis, which is a very rare outcome.
David and Hannah and Oscar's older sister Holly, who is now 4, live in our village. Iona met Hannah at the Toddler Group in the village hall when she was pregnant with Oscar, and we shared many happy times together with our children at the Toddler Group, birthday parties, and fruit picking at Rectory Farm. We are part of a small village community, as are many of those fundraising and taking part in this event, which has been greatly impacted by the untimely death of this beautiful young boy called Oscar.
