Story
We are the Inotroops! A multidisciplinary team working together to raise money for the Intensive Care Foundation, a charity which funds the highest quality intensive care research in the UK. The Foundation co-ordinates research into new and existing practices within Intensive Care Units (ICU) and commits charitable funds to making advances in patient care. Patients are admitted to the Intensive Care for a variety of reasons and with a wide range of illnesses and disease processes. What happens in the ICU makes a huge difference to patient outcomes, with 90,000 patients being admitted to the ICU in the UK each year and 70,000 surviving to hospital discharge, vital research is needed to target the right treatment, to the right patients at the right time.
The Inotroops all work at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and the 4 person team is made up of; Jamie, fearless leader and anaesthetist currently saving lives in both the ICU and operating theatres. Michelle, the pocket rocket dietitian who tirelessly makes sure the nutritional needs of every ICU patient is met. Jonny, the Bradley Wiggins of physiotherapy maintains the fighting fit spirit of every patient he meets. Holly, the high flying ICU nurse splits her time between the John Radcliffe and the RAF.
The team will be taking part in the Snowdonia Xtreme 3 challenge on the 31st of May 2014 and will be hiking, riding and canoeing our way to raise as much money as we can to help the patients who find themselves under our care. Our mission is to hike/climb/run Snowdon, cycle 20 miles, canoe over Lake Gwynant and cycle a further 8 miles to the finish. Please sponsor our team as much as you can spare, every penny counts.
Thank you!
