In loving memory of my son Samir Ashraf, this Ramadan, I am asking for you to join me in planting olive trees in the Holy Land. By planting an olive tree with Zaimah, you’ll be helping to tackle poverty in Palestine, strengthen and stimulate economic conditions for impoverished farmers and most importantly, provide a sustainable means of ending food insecurity. 

Olives are Sunnah food and the Prophet (ﷺ) himself said, “Eat the olive and use it as an ointment as it comes from a blessed tree.” (Tirmidhi)

Our campaign will be planting olive trees throughout the central and northern areas of the West Bank, where unemployment is now at 18.2% and poverty rates are skyrocketing. These vulnerable people need our support, and together we can make a difference! 

Olive trees are a real blessing for the people of Palestine and a vital source of income for more than 80,000 Palestinian families. According to the UN, around 48% of agricultural land throughout the West Bank and Gaza is planted with olive trees. 70% of all fruit production in Palestine comes from these wonderful trees and their harvests can be used to create olive oil, soap, table olives and pickles. 

But sadly, Palestinian olive trees have been uprooted and destroyed for years. Settlers have carelessly cut down these beautiful trees, stolen and burnt harvests, wrecked water wells and bulldozed over rich agricultural land. Palestine needs our help, and we can start today by planting the seeds of hope!
Our Palestinian brothers and sisters have been living under conflict and occupation for decades with no end in sight – their stories are heart wrenching.

You’ll be providing a Palestinian family with a sustainable crop, a reliable income and a symbol of Palestinian resilience that will bring them hope for years to come.
You also have the opportunity to travel to Palestine and help plant/harvest the trees and follow the journey of the harvested fruits.
