Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Mum, Keith and I have chosen this charity for people to make a donation in memory of Dad (John/PJ) as an alternative to sending flowers.
Following his stroke in November, Dad spent six weeks in the Friends Stroke Unit at King's College Hospital where the nursing staff and doctors gave him the best care and as much dignity as they could, treating him as a person not just a patient.
It was clear to us that they cared about their patients and treated them all with dignity and respect, even when they were working in difficult circumstances or with challenging patients.
They were also very kind to us, particularly to Mum, during what was an incredibly difficult period for us all and it was clear they understood the impact on families of stroke victims.
While Dad did not ultimately survive we saw and appreciated the work that the staff did not just in the acute unit but also in helping patient's rehabilitation. We wished to recognise all of their efforts by selecting this charity which provides equipment to the Friends Stroke Unit to improve patients' overall care and experience on the unit and provides books and training equipment for the team.
Thank you from Marie, Anne & Keith.
