My name is Yvette and I am working for a charity in Chester called DIAL West Cheshire.  My role is funded by the local cabinet for a year and the aim is to make the charity more sustainable by developing new business opportunities in order to re-invest in the charity.  DWC are members of Disability Rights UK.

Over the last 5 months I have met so many amazing, courageous people with different disabilities who willingly give up their time as volunteers and have shown such generosity and empathy towards others despite their own difficulties in life.

I hope that we can support Disability Rights UK to educate non-disabled people to understand some of the social barriers and obstacles disabled people face day to day in their lives.

In this way I hope that one day more empathy and support is given by society to help disabled, older and vulnerable people to live more independent lives and participate equally as full citizens.

"In Memory of Jen"

On a personal note I would like to run this marathon in memory of my best friend Jenny Henny who passed away from cancer in November 2015.  This amazing brave lady always put others first, she referred to her cancer as "IT" and believed that she was the luckier one, as so many others suffer from much worse and she was blessed to have so much love and support around her.  This unselfish belief has been truly inspirational to me as a person and has made me open my eyes to others around me.  I thank Jenny for her warmth and empathy towards both people and animals and most of all, her fun and love of life.  In memory of you, my friend, I know you would be 26.2 miles behind me!!!!
