Story

On the 11th November 2022 a dog, Benji was ran over on the A179 Hartlepool. This poor baby laid on the side of the road for over 24hours! No one looking for him. When me and my sister herd about it we knew had to give this baby some dignity. We located him and took him to a local vets where they tried their best to locate his owner but sadly no one claimed him. The vet managed to contact the owner from details on his chip but they explained that they sold him on and give no forwarding information.

We could not let this drop and asked if we could claim him and put this baby to rest. After trying everything to find the owner they agreed that we could claim him.  Roxy’s Rainbow Pet Cremation Services Hartlepool  so very kindly offered to collect him and cremate him free of charge to give this baby some peace and dignity after everything that’s happened.

We have asked Roxy’s rainbows if we  could make a donation to them for everything they’ve done for Benji. But they told us how they don’t want anything for it, which is so kind of them!  So that’s when we decided we would set up this donation page for another set of angels maxi’s mates!

Benji’s story is so tragic and it is something that a lot of us will remember forever, I am so sad that we couldn’t save this beautiful boy, but by donating to maxi’s mates maybe we can help make a difference to many dogs that can still be saved, all in memory of BENJI🐕💙

About the charity

We are a dedicated charity that wants to help stray dogs. We firmly believe ALL strays deserve another chance at finding that right home for them. We care deeply about dogs regardless of breed, age or whether they are sociable with other dogs or not. Maxi’s Mates will meet all their needs until this happens and for however long it takes. We will vaccinate, spay or neuter where possible and will home check every home. Our mission is to protect our stray dogs and provide for them. After volunteering for three years at Waterfall Kennels, a council dog pound , we now have our own place. Maxi’s Mates Rescue & Rehoming Centre opened 2/1/16 as a result of Waterfall closing and a campaign to find a new alternative. . We are at Carlin Howe Farm, Redcar Rd, Dunsdale, Cleveland. TS14 6RH. Our strays are mainly from the Redcar & Cleveland Area.
