Assalamu Aleikum and Ramadan Mubarak
Hope all is well in sha'a Allah, and thank you for visiting my page. Please take a few more minutes to read the below. This is not to guilt you, but to invigorate you further, and to remind you of the power we hold, to impact the lives of those in need, for the better.
Bismillah
Imagine being unable to cover your rent, heating, or electricity!
Imagine being unemployed or being denied the right to work!
Imagine being in a low paid job, or being forced to work in risky conditions to earn a living! Now imagine losing that job; your one and only lifeline!
Imagine being unable to access benefits, or receiving less than the full entitlement!
Imagine being unable to feed yourself, clothe yourself, keep yourself safe and warm (and your family)!
Imagine sleeping on the street, or sleeping on someone's couch or floor, or living in very crowded and badly managed accommodation, or living in inadequate and poor conditions!
Imagine crossing oceans and borders, and experiencing untold horrors and loss in your journey, to reach that place you thought will be your safe haven and refuge! Now imagine that upon your arrival, all doors are closed in your face!
Imagine struggling with your mental health and instead of help, you are being labelled a cockroach, a leech, potentially criminal, a burden on society, and being told to go back to the "He**hole country" you came from!
Now Imagine dealing with some of the above ,or all of it, during COVID!
Bear with me some more; now imagine on top of all of the above, not having the emotional support of family/friends/neighbours, or anyone to listen to you and rally around you in your time of need (even if it is only virtually over the phone)!
Thankfully for many of us, the above was a mere exercise of imagining, but for the many people Subulus Salaam is helping, it is their bitter lived reality. Most of them are trapped in a vicious cycle of poverty, and an unforgiving asylum system that is working to push them out. They are struggling to survive and meet their basic needs in London, one of the most "prosperous" cities in the world! They are in desperate need of our help!
Now imagine the immense rewards and barakah you will earn for coming to their aid; your brothers and sisters, and your neighbours here in your home.
