Story
Through the Romero Scholars program, I am being prepared in a ministerial leadership role for the Catholic Church in the near future. I pray that the Spirit will guide and lead me where God needs future Latinx leaders.
The Romero Scholars program is a unique academic, formative, and mentoring program at CTU, preparing Hispanic Catholics for ministerial leadership in the Catholic Church. The scholarship provides full tuition for Hispanic Catholics to pursue graduate degrees in theology and ministry. This all-inclusive tuition benefit is essential to these programs, as the cost of ministerial education is prohibitive for many who wish to serve the Catholic Church in this capacity.
Romero Scholars are given the opportunity to pursue serious graduate
theological studies. This opportunity not only affects students themselves, but also their communities through their faith formation, engaged parish life, and evangelization.
Romero Scholars are better equipped to articulate the Catholic faith to others in a compelling and informed manner. The program cultivates quality ministerial leaders who are rooted in and sensitive to the gifts and needs of Hispanic Catholics.
Through lectures, pilgrimages, prayer services, and other events, the Romero Scholars program is a beacon of the important history and contributions of Hispanic Catholics in Chicago.
